Giselle is a rare late-season Florida mango from Gary Zill's breeding program, named after Zill's wife. It has very juicy, dark yellow-orange flesh with a rich, Indian-style flavor. On our Merritt Island trees it ripens in September, near the very end of mango season.
Where does Giselle come from?
Tropical Acres Farms reports that Giselle is Zill planting 35-6, a seedling of a mango called Tower, and that it's named after Gary Zill's wife.
What does Giselle taste like?
Tropical Acres Farms describes very juicy, dark yellow-orange flesh with an Indian/West Indian flavor that “tastes like an outstanding Graham mango.” Expect a rich, aromatic mango with a little spice, the kind of flavor people who love Indian varieties look for.
Why buy a late-season mango?
By September most Florida mangoes are done. Giselle and Venus are our latest varieties, so a Giselle box is a way to stretch your mango season. Browse our August–September harvest.
How to handle Giselle
Ripen it on the counter until it gives slightly and smells sweet at the stem end. It's very juicy, so cut it over a plate or a board with a groove.
How to order
Giselle is a Rare & Collector variety: $197 for a Small Box (4–5 lb) or $247 for a Large Box (8–10 lb), with USPS Priority shipping (2–3 days) included to the lower 48 states except California. We can't ship to Alaska, Hawaii or U.S. territories. It's a pre-order for the 2027 season, and it usually ripens in September on our trees, one of the last varieties we pick. If the harvest comes up short, you can choose a substitute variety or store credit for the full amount. Pre-order Giselle mangoes.
